Today my brother unveiled the statue he designed for the Centennial Park in Downtown Tulsa. The statue was originally only supposed to be 4ft tall, but after presenting his designs to the board they decided to move the statue to the corner (the more prominent end of the park) and secure funding to make it bigger. 3 years later and it’s unveiled… The statue now stands over 15ft tall at the intersection of 6th and Boston.
The park was built to commemorate the last one hundred years in Tulsa and to celebrate it’s future. My brother’s design was inspired by the oil industry that has made Tulsa what it is today = An economically sustainable city with rich international culture.
I’ve become use to seeing my brothers work in public spaces, he’s an architect after all, but this is different. To see something my brother had full creative control over was quite exciting. Being an architect, unlike many design professions, his work is heavily influenced by so many variables. Needless to say, I was so happy when he got this opportunity.
I’m so proud of my brother. Well done dude, it’s absolutely incredible…
