You know what doesn’t help you fall asleep at 2 AM? Getting out of bed and sifting through records. I was trying to find a comfy spot in bed and my attempts fell short. So I got out of bed and made my way to the stacks. I had one song in mind…. Mass Appeal
Why? I’m not sure. For the past three days this song has been echoing throughout my thoughts. I remember when this album dropped. It was amazing. As every year passed, I found a new respect for it. Right now I am sitting on my couch, my turntable spins, I have one light on in the kitchen and all I can think about is how tight this track is. They must have used a Fender Rhodes Organ for that line…. I’d place Guru in my top 3 favorite MC’s of all time. Premier is definately one of my top 3 favorite producers of all time. So now I am wide awake and I wish I wasn’t. So here is some more info – if you haven’t picked up any Consequence, I would recommend it = Disperse is probably my favorite track thus far… Reminiscent of the native tongue days…
I’m delirious. 2:20 now. I’m drawing, writing this blog and flipping records. I’m currently listening to a little De La Soul..
*Oh snap… I decided to do a little internet diggin’, since I know I am not falling asleep anytime soon…. AND I just found this vid. CRAZY – Consequence filming a conversation with Pharrell AND Premier! This is insane!!! A coincidence? I think not….. This is hilarious!!!!! It’s sort of a long video, but you have to watch it. At least watch Skateboard P do his Busta and Q-tip impersonations….. AND wait til he does the “2 Deep” beat box. That is one of the reasons I appreciate Pharrell, the dude is a kid. I feel the same way about Premier’s beats and given the opportunity to bounce around being ridiculous with those cats, I would. Life’s too short to grow up. Be a kid today and just bounce around. I love the bounce. Smile lots and listen to a song that makes you want to bounce. OH – and there was Mig’s walkin’ in and out of the room….! Nice.
