If I haven’t told you. I apologize, this week has been really busy… This has to be one of the most exciting events of the year! As you all know, I am on the board of Art Directors of Tulsa and tomorrow night we have flown in Jay Shuster for a Lecture at Philbrook. Jay shuster is……. Brilliant!
The son of a car designer, Jay’s childhood bedroom was a nest of blueprints, drawings, posters, machines, and models of all things connected with mechanized transportation. But it wasn’t until Jay saw Star Wars that he connected his interests to a possible future in the film industry. That desire initially took him to Lucasfilm Ltd., where he designed vehicles and environments for the Star Wars prequel trilogy.Jay arrived at Pixar in 2002 as a concept designer on Cars , where he translated Director John Lasseter’s ideas into characters and environments. Jay worked as a character designer on Disney•Pixar’s latest release, WALL•E. Jay graduated in 1993 from the Industrial Design program at College for Creative Studies in Detroit. He currently resides in El Cerrito, California.
I also recommend reading the interview Tulsa World did with Jay that was published last Sunday: here
I’ve been working with Jay (and the very professional and kick ass PR rep at Pixar – thanks Amanda! You’re awesome!) for a couple of months now and finally we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I get to hang out with Jay all day tomorrow as I will be running him all around town tomorrow for Press stuff – so it’s cool if your jealous. But you know, I promise I will tell you all about it. We will start our day at Channel 8 KTUL -for the Good Day Tulsa interview. So please check it out! The rest of the day will be a blur…. But you should definitely make it out to Philbrook tomorrow night. And be there early. We’re anticipating a full house 300+……
Jay’s from Pixar. Do we really need to say more?
The meeting’s at Philbrook. With valet parking.
We have limited seating in the main auditorium. It is 1rst-come, 1rst-served.
Overflow seating will be in a room with a live video feed.

*The raddest thing about Jay = How kind and humble he is. He is original. He finds creativity in the most unique places. He is inspired and gets out there. He lives and translates that into his professional design. He doesn’t stop. He continues to sharpen his creative edge by learning / observing.
I’m stoked.
