Hey Duane,
I was reading staple’s blog and thought of you. This seems to happen quite frequently. No, it’s not the Asian thing. You guys share some of the same perspectives and those are conveyed in a similar writing style. Anyway, if you haven’t read this post already, do so: here. I think you’ll agree with it. Dope photo to boot.
Tomas
p.s. Did I ever tell you this little story… When I first moved to L.A., I was at Union on La Brea, and I was wearing a Staple T-shirt with the Nike Presto schematic. Anyway, I walk out of the shop, and as I did, another gent was walking in. He says to me, “Hey, nice shirt!” I said “Thanks,” and Coco inquired, “Who was that?” I said, “I think it’s the guy that made this shirt.” I went home and confirmed that it was.
Thanks Tomas, I definitely frequent Jeff’s blog. But I had not seen this particular post until you e-mailed me. As most of you all know, jeffstaple is one of my favorite designer of all time. He was one of the first people I ever interviewed for LFP. (How old is LFP now? 5 – 6 years old? crazy…) This week has been a bit of an ass kicking, as I said in an e-mail earlier this morning “I’m just rolling with the punches..” So Tom’s e-mail arrived at the perfect time… Thank you Tom, you are incredible dude. *If you noticed, I changed your post script acronym. I had to, it’s too good to leak to the world wide interwebs just yet.
Anyway, people you should read jeff’s outlook on the Kanye album. (link in the content of tom’s e-mail) 1. I’ve been feeling the album for sure. It’s dope. I whole heartily agree with jeff. That dude is brilliant. 2. I love design philosophy – I love jeff’s work – he has purpose. Purpose is so f*cking important in anything that we do. I want to shake that idea into people! HAVE PURPOSE DAMN IT! Especially in design. Have your own purpose – your own style…. WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!
When you have purpose – nothing is forced. Or over produced. In life or in fashion. The final product is genuine.
