Tulsa has only a few events that I look forward to every year, the Tulsa Tough is one of them. The Tulsa Tough is a three day road race which attracts many international competitors and young up-and-comers. The roadie mayhem begins Friday night and goes through Sunday. My favorite event is Friday night, where racers navigate the course under the lights of our beautiful downtown skyline. Rumor has it racers average around 40 mph.
This was the first year I ventured into downtown with my camera. I’m typically on the sidelines with a beer in hand yelling at the roadies as the hammer the big ring. But, I was on a mission to capture a few photos this weekend. My lovely wife was a fantastic and patient assistant.
Here are a few of my photos. The first eight photos are from the Men’s Pro 1 Race Friday night. The last four photos are from the Men’s Pro 1 race on Sunday.
This was my first attempt at shooting professional cycling. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and hope to do more of it in the years to come.
To conclude: We were very excited to see how many spectators came out and flooded the streets of downtown Friday night. I am proud of you Tulsa!
