In an uncanny move, Louis Vuitton has chosen former USSR president Mikhail Gorbachev as one of its latest spokesperson. Heralded as one of the Top 100 people of the 20th century by Time Magazine, the inclusion of Gorbachev as a marketing force is an interesting move to highlight LV’s roots as a luxury luggage maker. Gorbachev joins the likes of Pharrell Williams and Jennifer Lopez as celebrity figure heads who have featured for LV. For a little random trivia, Gorbachev’s cameo appearance in an episode of The Simpsons awhile back is a testament to his role as a pop icon.

The graphic design firm House Industries (affiliated with brand House 33) is set to unveil a special collaborative piece created with Eames Office. The limited run of 10 solid maple and walnut sculptures will be unveiled later on tonight at a special lecture held by Andy Cruz outlining what’s in store from House Industries. The Eames House was built in 1949 by the husband wife duo of Charles and Ray as part of the Case Study Houses Project. [..]
